Measured growth across key categories
Recent figures highlight Australia’s evolving role in the UK’s red meat market:
• Australia accounted for 6% of total UK beef imports in 2025, up from 2% in 2024
• It is now the 5th largest supplier of beef to the UK
• Australia remains the second largest sheep meat supplier, representing 36% of UK imports
Beyond red meat, Australia continues to maintain a well-established position in the UK wine market, while its seafood sector is recognised for high-quality, responsibly managed produce.
At the same time, Australian spirits producers are gradually gaining international recognition, supported by innovation and the use of native botanicals.
Why Australian produce is gaining popularity in the UK
• Proven quality and traceability - Australian producers are renowned for high standards and carefully managed supply chains, giving chefs, retailers and consumers confidence in every product.
• Rich provenance and storytelling - From grass-fed beef and lamb to sustainably sourced seafood, distinctive wine regions and native botanicals in spirits, Australian produce offers clear provenance and engaging narratives that align with premium dining trends.

• Sustainability and ethical production - Sustainable farming, responsible fisheries and ongoing investment in environmental practices make
Australian products attractive to buyers prioritising ethically sourced and environmentally conscious ingredients.
Building long-term presence in the UK
While still a modest contributor overall, Australia is establishing a steady and increasingly visible presence in the UK across food and drink categories. From red meat and seafood to wine and spirits, Australian producers are responding to demand for quality, transparency and provenance.
Austrade’s presence during HRC London reflects this continued engagement - supporting exporters and strengthening connections with UK chefs, buyers and hospitality leaders.
