About The Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers

The Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers (FPAQ) unites some 7,300 maple syrup producers in Quebec. Its mandate is to assure the quality and shelf life of maple products from Quebec.

Since February 28, 2002, the FPAQ has been the exclusive sales representative of maple farmers. It administers the sales agency which receives and markets maple syrup sold in large containers of more than 5 litres.

The overall goal of the agency is to assure effective and orderly marketing of maple syrup.

Quebec is responsible for 93% of the Canadian production and to 71% of today's global maple syrup output. Therefore the Federation is proud to lead promotional efforts and scientific research in the name of the entire Canadian maple syrup industry.

Through its promotional activities, the Federation and sales agency contribute to publicising Quebec maple products in Quebec and around the world, and increasing their consumption.

Besides the maple producers represented by The Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers, there are about 100 businesses that purchase and process maple syrup in Quebec, 40 of which package and process maple products on a large scale every year.
