East Africa Emergency Appeal

Calling all Food Lovers:
Organise a Dinner Party for your friends and support East Africa Emergency Appeal
Humanitarian organisation Action Against Hunger is calling food lovers across the UK to support its emergency appeal for East Africa. As a severe food crisis sweeps across the Greater Horn of Africa, an estimated 11.5 million people are faced with extreme food shortages, mass livestock losses and protracted drought-like conditions. With millions of children at risk of life-threatening malnutrition, Action Against Hunger’s teams are scaling up their programmes to provide life-saving support to families in dire need in Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia.
Action Against Hunger, the organiser of the annual Love Food Give Food appeal - supported by hundreds of chefs, restaurants and food lovers across the country - has launched an emergency appeal to support its ongoing relief-programmes in the region
“In support of our our emergency appeal for East Africa, we are asking the nation’s best home cooks to get involved by doing what they do best: cooking for their friends,” said Heidi Drummond of Action Against Hunger. “The scale of this humanitarian catastrophe is immense and our teams on the ground are racing against time to help families struggling to feed their children. Whether you choose to cook a simple supper for a few friends, a gourmet tasting menu worthy of a Michelin-star or a glamorous themed supper club for a hundred people, your support will go a long way in supporting our life-saving programmes.”

Getting involved is simple. Simply pick a date for your Love Food Give Food dinner party; invite some friends; pick a menu; and cook up a storm! At the end of the evening, guests are invited to make a contribution to their meal in the form of a donation in support of Action Against Hunger.
