ALCESTER & FOREST OF ARDEN FOOD FESTIVAL (Spring)

5TH SPRING FESTIVAL 17TH MAY 2014

Organisers report that bookings for the 5th Spring Festival are well ahead of previous years. This is despite a far stricter policy this year on both the numbers of each food catagory being strictly restricted, along with a far closer scrutiny of quality and interest of the products offered, indeed more than 10 applicants have been refused. The range of products already booked is quite remarkable and enhances the national growing reputation of AAFF.

This has to an extent been attributed to the wide interest caused by a national magazine, Country Homes and Interior's (IPC Media) important food section voting Alcester as one of the three "Best Food Festivals in Britain". Interestingly the other two are in East Sussex and Wales so this event is truly representing the best of the Midlands.

To cope with the crowds experienced at the first Autumn Festival last October the Park & Ride base has been moved to much larger well signed car parking on Adams Way (off Arden Road B4089) on the Arden Forest Industrial Estate, and Dudleys Coaches are providing an additional coach. The service will remain FREE.

This year many local organisations are working with the organisers to ensure continued success, and these include the Scouts, Round Table, Town Council and Court Leet.

Naturally such an event is to some extent governed by the weather, and it is again expected to attract large numbers from Warwickshire and Worcestershire, but increasing footfall last year was seen from Hereford, Gloucestershire, Leicestershire and also the Birmingham/Solihull belt.

As in previous events it is being held in the High Street, Church Street and around the Town Hall with disabled parking available on Henley Street, and as before entry is FREE so represents a terrific value family day out.
