Aviko on the Hunt for a Great British Breakfast

Potato specialist Aviko is on the lookout for the nation’s best morning fuel with the launch of its Great British Breakfast Competition today (Monday 6th July 2015).

Chefs, caterers and operators are given the chance to have their dishes crowned victorious simply by visiting www.greatbritishbreakfast.co.uk and sharing – in no more than 50 words – what it is that makes their breakfast great. With on-the-go a key trend in the breakfast market alongside traditional options, Aviko’s Great British Breakfast Competition has two categories – Best Hot Breakfast and Best Breakfast Bap – with the champion of each winning a weekend for two people in London with breakfast at The Wolsely.

Mohammed Essa, General Manager UK and Ireland, Aviko, explains: “The breakfast and brunch market is booming – almost a third of people choose to eat it out-of-home at least once a week* - so it creates an exciting opportunity for operators and their customers to try something different. We want to showcase and reward those operators that are making the most of this demand and taking their menus to the next level in innovation, whether that’s with unique presentation ideas, interesting flavour combinations or even using eggs from their own hens! What better reward for their efforts than a short break in the epicentre of the UK dining scene and sampling an iconic breakfast at The Wolsely!”

The Great British Breakfast Competiton is open for entries from 6th July until midnight on 9th October 2015 and forms part of Aviko’s Great British Breakfast campaign – including infographic, video and POS materials – which has been developed to support operators with what is widely considered to be the most important meal of the day.
Mohammed continues: “Caterers who carefully consider their morning menus and tap into the growing breakfast market can really profit. An easy win is to include items such as hash browns, which have become a staple of the great British breakfast with 68% of people expecting them to be included and 80% willing to pay 50p more for them*. They provide an important opportunity for caterers to deliver the breakfast of champions.”

Aviko has a range of breakfast boosting items including Hash Brown Bites perfect for on-the-go, the innovative Bubble & Squeak Rounds – made from 100% real cream, savoy cabbage, fried onions, parsley, chervil and black pepper for maximum flavor – and the ultimate breakfast side, Aviko Hash Browns which are larger than average for better plate fill.

Dedicated to foodservice and one of the biggest potato processors in the world, Aviko offers a range of chilled and frozen potato specialities made by chefs, for chefs from morning favourites such as Hash Browns and innovative Hash Brown Bites, through to Premium Fries, Mash, Roasties and much more.
