Potato products supplier Aviko is to launch a new range of steam blanched potatoes that lock in flavour and nutrients but are quick and easy to prepare.
Launching in July, the 100% natural range includes staples such as 30/40 diced potatoes, sliced potatoes, baby potatoes, whole potatoes and potato wedges – ideal for sides, mashing, boiling and as the base for menu favourites such as soups and casseroles. The range is semi-prepared using steam blanch technology that is unique to Aviko, helping operators provide nutritious and tasty potato dishes.
Mohammed Essa, General Manager UK and Ireland, Aviko explains: “Steam blanching is a far gentler process versus other cooking techniques. As a result the flavour, colour and texture of the potatoes are not only retained but so are all-important nutrients. As the products are semi-prepared it means caterers can cook them using a range of methods - so they’re a versatile addition to the kitchen too.”
Available in 2 x 5kg cases, the unique Steam Blanched range comes chilled with a long shelf life of 19 days after production (stored at 0-4°C).
