Brushing our Way to a Factory Fun Day

Friday 18th September saw our factory team sacrifice their staff day out to decorate, clean and restore a hospice and rest home. This very good deed was arranged by Essential Cuisine’s factory director, Jamie McGregor, which involved the team first visiting St Lukes Hospice to clean their ‘rest’ area outside. This required jet washing and scrubbing an area of 100sq metres and removing all dirt, algae and scuff marks to brighten and freshen up the area used daily by the patients. All the team got stuck in and through their group camaraderie created a positive and professional atmosphere whilst they undertook their DIY SOS day out.

Following this, the team headed over to St Stephens care home; where they were asked to complete a full maintenance and tidy up of the garden which is used for patients and their families to enjoy
and at times get some much needed fresh air. A group of 20 workers spent several hours repairing and painting an old green house, a garden fence, two large sheds – one in a ‘blue and white beach look’ to make them all smile – which it did! And after all this then to trim and tidy a garden area overgrown with ivy and unkempt trees.

All the DIY work was completed to an admirably high standard much to the delight of the patrons and residents.

The factory team showed huge spirit, determination and a great attitude to ensure all the work was finished skilfully and everywhere was neat and tidy before they left. Although the factory team had given up the chance for a staff day out, they all agreed the experience was extremely rewarding.

Teamwork does in fact make the dream work as through humour and optimism a fantastic job was completed and a fun day was had by all.
