Delice de France takes product launch award

Baking manufacturer and foodservice supplier Delice de France has triumphed at the Essential Café Trade Awards 2014.

The business was awarded Product Launch of the Year (Food) Award for its new food-to-go hand-held pizza.

Thierry Cacaly, managing director, said Delice de France was delighted to win.
He said: “The award is a culmination of a lot of hard work put in by our entire team, from new product development, marketing and sales representatives. We continuously strive to bring the best and most innovative products to market, supporting our customers by helping them stand out from the crowd.”

The awards celebrate the very best products within the café and coffee shop market, focusing on supporting and expanding the sector.

The pizza, introduced last October, is prepared with hand-rolled Italia dough (flour type 0), and includes a tomato and mozzarella filling, finished with ham. It is then pinched in the middle to create a hand-held snack, suitable for cafés with smaller oven space.

According to Delice de France, 39% of consumers are relying on food-to-go, due to “time starved lifestyles”, with 59% wanting to grab and go at lunchtime.

Additionally, eight in 10 (83%) UK adults ate pizza in the last six months to April last year.
