#EnglishTourismWeek2023 starts today, and it's the Year Of The Coast 2023 too. If we're talking local and seasonal food that our guests love, here's the UK's largest intertidal area - Morecambe Bay, 120 sq miles at low tide, and source of the famous Morecambe Bay Potted Shrimp. The photo's taken from where Windermere empties into the sea at Bardsea just a few miles south of us. We're serving them on our bar menu as a starter with sourdough and lemon - when a delicacy is this good it doesn't need anything fancy.

Small Contribution. Big Impact.

The Staff Canteen has always been more than a website—it’s a community, built by and for hospitality. We share the wins, the challenges, the graft, and the inspiration that keeps kitchens alive.

We believe in staying open to everyone, but creating this content takes real resources. If you’ve ever found value here—whether it’s a recipe, an interview, or a laugh when you needed it most—consider giving just £3 to keep it going.

A little from you keeps this space free for all. Let’s keep lifting the industry, together.
