How to cut costs, not quality. AXA Konzern AG Study confirms smart kitchens save more than just time.

A two-year study by Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences, in partnership with Rational, has shown that upgrading to modern kitchen equipment can significantly cut down on energy and water use, while improving food quality and working conditions.

The research tracked the renovation of AXA Konzern AG’s catering kitchen in Cologne, replacing older equipment with Rational’s iVario Pro, iCombi Pro, and ConnectedCooking system. 


The results?

- Water use dropped by 47.9%
- Energy consumption fell by 24.1%


These savings came without compromising performance. In fact, food quality improved without the need to employ highly skilled chefs.

The takeaway? Investing in intelligent kitchen systems isn’t just about improving technology, it’s about sustainability, efficiency, and making kitchens better places to work.
