John & Desiree Chantarasak secure permanent site for AngloThai

Husband and wife duo, John & Desiree Chantarasak have confirmed that they will open their first permanent
restaurant in Central London early next year.

Over the last several years John has built a reputation as one of the UK’s most exciting Thai chefs, with time
spent in kitchens across London, Europe, North America and Asia, including Som Saa, and David Thompson’s
Nahm.

John’s half-British and half-Thai heritage has inspired a dedication to celebrate both the cooking
techniques, flavours and culture of Thailand, with the seasonality of produce from the British Isles.

This will be
at the heart of the menu and overall concept of the restaurant.
Desiree, who will oversee the front of house operations, will also be responsible for the wine list at AngloThai.

John & Desiree’s passion for low-intervention, natural wines, will be evident in the drinks offering of the
restaurant, with a focus on small-batch producers.
Having already built a recognisable brand through sell-out supper clubs, festivals and events, the opportunity
for AngloThai to have a permanent home is an exciting and ambitious next step.

In the lead up to the opening
of the restaurant, John & Desiree will continue with a number of projects including appearances at Wilderness
Festival this August, and a series of intimate dinners, AngloThai Baan, hosted at their home in South London.

John and Desiree will open AngloThai with MJMK, the London-based group of restaurants and bars that are
behind the likes of Portuguese Casa do Frango and soon-to-launch Cuban Bar La Rampa, as well as the awardwinning KOL, Santiago Lastra’s critically acclaimed Mexican restaurant which opened last October.

AngloThai will open in London early next year. More details to follow.
