Natasha's Law and how it effects chefs in the UK

Natasha’s Law is a UK food labelling regulation that came into force on 1 October 2021. It amended the Food Information Regulations to strengthen allergen transparency for consumers, particularly those at risk of severe allergic reactions. The legislation was introduced following the death of Natasha Ednan-Laperouse, who suffered a fatal allergic reaction after consuming a prepacked product that did not clearly declare sesame as an ingredient. For businesses producing pre-packaged foods, staying up to date with allergen regulations and investing in staff training and technology is now essential. Natasha’s Law has changed the way food is prepared and presented, and it continues to shape best practices for safe, reliable, and customer-focused food service.
