Property Developer 'Taps' into UK demand for maple syrup

A property developer has announced all its new UK homes’ kitchens will feature a third ‘maple’ tap, to respond to the UK’s surge in demand for pure maple syrup from Quebec and Canada.

Quebec-based Elpam Purys, which is currently developing over 100,000 new-builds in England and Wales, says the third tap, commonplace in Canadian homes, will soon become standard in the UK.
Serge Erable, chief executive at Elpam Purys, said: “In Canada, pure maple syrup is such a part of our daily lives that we all have a third tap for maple, next to ‘hot’ and ‘cold’, so we can add it to any dish – be it pancakes, ice cream, soup, or in baking.

“Last year, exports of pure maple syrup from Quebec to the UK rose by 36%, and we’ve seen a hike in requests from Canadian expats for us to fit maple taps, so it makes perfect sense to now put them as standard in all our UK homes.”
