Steelite International receive Environment Award

We are delighted to announce that Steelite International have won the Gold “Green Apple Award”, to recognise one of our environmental projects – the Lamella waste water clarifier. The trophy was presented to Pat Griffin Health, Safety, Environment and Training Manager for Steelite International by renowned “Apprentice” contestant, Raleigh Addington, who now heads the organisation - Tickets for Troops at The Green Organisation's 17th annual international awards ceremony at the House of Commons on Monday 15th November 2010.The judges commented, “Steelite International has found a fairly novel use for tried and tested lamella separators. Not only does it mean their waste water is far less polluted and easier to treat, but also they have reclaimed 400 tonnes of good clay that would have entered the sewage or landfill systems, this with other environmental initiatives puts them at the top.”The Green Apple Awards are presented annually in recognition of companies, councils and communities carrying out projects that enhance environment care, of which there were 500 nominations this year. The Green Apple Awards campaign is run by The Green Organisation, an independent, non-political, non-profit organisation that recognises, rewards and promotes environmental best practice around the world. National organiser Roger Wolens commented: “To show continued interest in environmental issues during the current financial climate shows great foresight and they deserve the recognition of being Green Apple Award winners.“To then go further and become Green Heroes is an even bolder statement of environmental intent, and organisations that go the extra mile and become Green Heroes are demonstrating a serious commitment to the world around them. They invest in a better future for us all and deserve to be recognised for their efforts.”
Pat Griffin, Steelite International's Health, Safety, Environment and Training Manager was recently presented with a wallshield and certificate at the Green Heroes presentation ceremony. Presented by Trevor Baylis, Steelite International were praised for the hard work done minimising environmental impact and the Green Apple Award won last year.
