Valentine and Cuisinequip answer Twitter plea for help

When Valentine Equipment recently received a private Twitter message from Paul Clifford, Director of Fat Dads Community Kitchen, they were keen to find out more about this new Community Interest Company and how they could help.
Paul explained that Fat Dads Community Kitchen plan to be a vehicle for change, working with youth organisations, including supporting the “No Child Goes to School Hungry” campaign, and providing healthy meals to children in deprived areas of Bristol. Using a specially adapted American School bus as a mobile kitchen, they are working to provide meals to the most vulnerable and, with the support of FareShare South West and other commercial kitchens, to eliminate food waste in and around the Bristol area.
Hearing Paul’s plans to collaborate with local community leaders to bring the food of many different ethnic groups to the fore, breaking down barriers through a shared love of food and, hopefully, giving impetus for some to pursue a career in catering, the team at Valentine and Cuisinequip were keen to get involved. With further plans to promote healthy eating workshops at community events and to provide a safe environment for vulnerable people to develop their personal and professional skills, high quality kitchen equipment was a must for the Community Kitchen and an area where Valentine Equipment knew that they could assist.
Since Paul’s initial Twitter message, Fat Dads Community Kitchen have been in regular contact with Valentine and Cuisinequip and they have now taken delivery of kitchen equipment that Valentine and Cuisinequip hope will be invaluable to Paul and his team.
After receiving the donated kitchen equipment, Paul said, “We reached out to many manufacturers of equipment and we were delighted to receive two wonderful pieces of equipment from Valentine Fryers, which will help us not only to keep our initial costs down but to provide us with the tools required to function. We have been so humbled by the kindness of others and we want to say a huge thank you to Lorna and the staff at Valentine Fryers for their unwavering support to our Community Interest Company”.
Bob Witherall, Managing Director of Valentine Equipment and Cuisinequip commented, “We were delighted to be able to support Paul and the team at Fat Dads Community Kitchen by donating equipment that we hope will serve them for many years to come and we look forward to hearing more about the positive contribution that Fat Dads Community Kitchen makes to the people of Bristol”.

Small Contribution. Big Impact.

The Staff Canteen has always been more than a website—it’s a community, built by and for hospitality. We share the wins, the challenges, the graft, and the inspiration that keeps kitchens alive.

We believe in staying open to everyone, but creating this content takes real resources. If you’ve ever found value here—whether it’s a recipe, an interview, or a laugh when you needed it most—consider giving just £3 to keep it going.

A little from you keeps this space free for all. Let’s keep lifting the industry, together.
