Next week we welcome Jordi Purgivet, the Sosa development chef, to British shores for our Sosa demonstration at Wild Harvest. Remember to follow us on twitter to keep updated with new product information and photos from the event.
Minor shifts for the week ahead as follows:
Wild Mushrooms & Truffle
We are expecting our last week of European Girolles before we move to American Girolles. Grey-legged Chanterelles from Finland are coming in at a great price and beautiful quality. We are also seeing small quantities of Trompette arriving fromFrance, a good quality but thin on the ground due to the warm European weather.
Mousseron is also growing inBulgaria; our first delivery of the season arrived this week and they are looking beautiful; a delicate aniseed aroma and the neat, even gills look lovely on the plate.
We are hoping to see a late flush of Cep fromTurkey, but we are hearing on a day by day basis regarding availability. We hope for the South African season, which will be more reliable, to start in a fortnight. Pied de Mouton has been washed out by rain inScotland, but we hope for a second flush next week.
Our Wild and Cultivated mushroom mix will contain the following this week:
Girolle
King Oyster
Shemeji
Chanterelle
Mousseron
Autumn Umbrian black truffles are still going strong, though due to the warm weather they are smaller in size (roughly 20-30g each). White Umbrian truffles are also available, though until we move later in the season, white truffles are only available through pre-order. After a disastrous summer crop, Chinese frozen truffles are back in full swing and now being held in our warehouse.
