Chef Career Advice

Based on his extensive experience working within the Culinary Industry, Head Chef, Sam Moody offers his advice to aspiring Chefs in an attempt to help them on their journey up the career ladder:

My names Sam Moody, I'm the executive Chef at the Bath Priory Hotel. If you're about to leave college just get your head down and work really hard for someone that's going to work harder than you.

I’d say the best bit of advice I’ve been given has got to be from Michael Caine’s and it’s push yourself and taste, taste, taste. I think coming into our industry today, It’s a very exciting place to work it’s very happening and their massive variety, the world is literally your oyster and you don't even need to leave the country.

When someone applies for a job here I’m looking for attitude, I’m not looking for skills, I'm not looking for a great CV necessarily, I'm just looking for that attitude and willingness to learn and you start at the bottom and work up. Coming to work with me at the bath priory you can expect to be pushed very hard, I expect a lot from you, but you’re going to have a lot of fun It's a very friendly team we got working out there so it's good fun.
