This week's market report from Wild Harvest features white truffles, Turkish Bursa figs and spaghetti squash as well as a whole host of other fruit and vegetables currently in season which you can see below:

Wild Mushrooms and Truffles

White truffleWe have slipped into Autumn truffles supply now and prices have taken their traditional hike up as the Summer truffle dries up. We are getting our first sample shipment of white truffles this week so see if the nose justifies the price. This aroma packed gem normally lasts up until New Year's Eve celebrations. Ceps are flowing nicely from Romania and Bulgaria and girolles continue from Russia and Scotland. We are seeing some puffballs, mousseron and cauliflower fungus to supplement our range.

Fruits

The mighty and affordable Bursa Turkish black fig is flowing nicely now. We have also added the premium quality white Chasselat Moissac grape to our offering.Muscat Grapes Here are some other fruits of seasonal note:
  • Muscat grapes
  • Crab apples
  • Charentais melons
  • Mirabelle plums
  • Sloes
Next stop apples and pears before we finish the year with a citrus note.

Vegetables

Mixed coloured kaleMixed coloured kale has started for decorative healthy eating and texture. The fun spaghetti squash is now in season, as is black cabbage or “cavolo nero” as the Italians name it with a pinch more style. If you are interested in a seasonal table decoration the other wordly mixed boxes of ornamental squash are now available.   As with the fruits above please find below a list of vegetables in great shape:
  • Rainbow chardrainbow chard
  • Jerusalem chokes and their milder helianthus cousin
