Chris Condé, Executive Chef of The New Inn in Baschurch, has passed away at the age of 40.

Chris made his name at The Inn at Grinshill where his culinary skills gained him two AA rosettes and put the establishment in the 2013 edition of the Good Food Guide.

A young chef bursting with talent, Chris became a familiar name for households around the country after he appeared on Series 4 of MasterChef: The Professionals in 2011, where he reached the quarter finals of the competition.

Following Chris’ passing, friends and colleagues from the industry have made their tributes to the young chef across social media.

On Facebook one user commenting on Chris’ generosity explained how the young chef had left his mark on the industry.

Another explained how unexpected the news was for him.

Commenting on his talent and personality, one Facebook user left his condolences for the chef.

Originally from Wrexham, Chris started his career as a kitchen porter at the Grovesnor Pulford Hotel in Chester, where he moved on to being a trainee chef, gaining a ‘Student of the Year’ award during his NVQ studies.

He was also a finalist in the North West Chef of the Year competition before working at LLyndir Hall in Rosset, the Craxton Wood Hotel; and the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Wrexham before transferring to Paul Heathcote’s restaurants in Lancashire and the Michelin-starred Fischers restaurant in Derbyshire.
