Cinnamon Club marks 25 years with retro menu
The Cinnamon Club in Westminster is celebrating a landmark anniversary this January as the modern Indian restaurant returns to the dishes that helped define its early identity.
From January 12 - January 24, the team will serve a one-off retro menu, revisiting a selection of plates that shaped the restaurant’s opening chapter in 2001 - with prices rolled back to match those early days.
Housed in the Grade II-listed Westminster Library, The Cinnamon Club has been a fixture of London dining since it opened under executive chef Vivek Singh in 2001.
Blending traditional Indian flavour profiles with British produce, the restaurant quickly became known for pushing the boundaries of Indian fine dining. Many of the chefs who helped launch the original concept, including Rakesh Nair and Hari Nagaraj, remain part of the team today.
A return to the dishes that shaped a London institution
The retro menu serves as a culinary time capsule, offering guests the chance to revisit some of the restaurant’s formative dishes.
These include sweet potato cake with crisp okra and spiced yoghurt; home smoked lamb kebabs; seared calf’s liver with masala mash and spiced onion chutney; sandalwood-flavoured tandoori chicken; baby aubergines in pickling spices with curry
leaf semolina; vindaloo of pork chop with pilau rice; pan seared breast of Gressingham duck with sesame tamarind sauce; and steamed mango rice cakes with wild berry sorbet.

Executive chef Vivek Singh said the menu was designed not just as a nostalgic nod, but as a reminder of the mindset that shaped The Cinnamon Club’s early trajectory.
He said: “The early 2000s were an exciting time for Indian cuisine in London, and this retro menu is a tribute to our early days. This isn’t just about nostalgia; it’s about celebrating the ambition, curiosity and creativity that shaped our early years and also the audacity of the idea itself. These dishes remind us, and our guests, why The Cinnamon Club has stood the test of time.”
