British chef Simon Rogan to open restaurant at Claridge's

Gourmets keenly awaiting news of which chef is to succeed Gordon Ramsay at Claridge's (which closed in June), your wait is over.  The hotel has confirmed the Twitter rumours by announcing that the British chef Simon Rogan, who is the holder of two Michelin stars at his restaurant L'Enclume in Cartmel, Cumbria is to take the helm at the restaurant, which opens in spring 2014. Celebrity chef Marco Pierre-White’s British ale crusade to serve Manchester beer 'tastier than wine’

Michelin-starred chef Marco Pierre-White, along with Manchester brewery J W Lees, has re-launched his specially-brewed ale The Governor that has been designed to complement British cuisine.  The renowned chef turned his talents to designing the ale in 2012 when he created all-malt British beers with the aim of accompanying pub food. Pop-up restaurant in empty Lewisham shop

An empty high street shop in Lewisham has been turned into a pop-up restaurant for people who want to start a restaurant but cannot afford permanent premises.  Lewisham Borough Council said it hopes other councils might follow suit and help revitalise the capital's streets. Read more from BBC News
