Steven Edwards crowned MasterChef: The Professionals winner

Steven Edwards, 27, has been crowned winner of MasterChef: The Professionals 2013.  After six weeks of incredible cooking and culinary challenges, and an exceptionally close final cook off, his title was awarded by judges: legendary double Michelin-starred chef Michel Roux Jr, chef Monica Galetti and MasterChef’s seasoned diner, Gregg Wallace.  Steven Edwards said: “It feels so surreal; I don’t know what to say, apart from thank you!

A Michelin-starred chef and award-winning champagne at an exclusive London club: it’s not a scene that usually makes me think “budget supermarket”.  But the lobster, scallops and venison I was served by celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli last week at Home House, the private members’ club on London’s Portman Square, was part of a four-course, fine-dining experience created entirely from the products of the German chain Aldi.
