Great British Menu 2020 chefs: Alex Greene, Northern Ireland heat

Shelly Cameron

Alex Greene is the chef-owner of Michelin-starred Deane's Eipic in Belfast

He is another returning chef, coming back to the competition for a second time!

The chef is born and bred in Northern Ireland and drew culinary inspiration watching his grandmother

cook for the staff on the farm where his family lived.

Alex started his career at the Bucks Head, Dundrum. He then joined the team at Deanes Brasserie in Belfast, being part of the team that won the restaurant a Michelin star before moving to London to work with Gordon Ramsay at Claridge’s.

After his time at Claridge's, Alex then held a stage at Pétrus before moving closer to home at the Cliff House Hotel in Waterford.

He then returned to work alongside Danni Barry at the Michelin-starred Deanes EIPIC restaurant where he is the head chef today.
