Award-winning chef Sarah Frankland has been appointed executive chef at Pennyhill Park in Surrey.

Sarah was previously head pastry chef at the Exclusive Collection property for six years picking up the Craft Guild of Chefs' Pastry Chef of the Year in 2019.

The promotion will see Sarah take control of the hotel's Hillfield Restaurant and Bar, spa and al fresco dining at Themis, the Lily Pond Terrace, as well as the pastry and bakery team.

Commenting on the news, Sarah said: “With the support of the pastry team and the wider kitchen, hotel and spa teams at Pennyhill Park, I am delighted to take the step to executive chef for our incredible resort.”

She added: “Through my years here, Exclusive Collection has invested in my development, not just as a chef but as an inspiring leader for the team. I look forward to continuing to grow and develop in my role for the future of the kitchen operation and food offering.”

The former Acorn Award winner also received commendations at the World Chocolate Masters and was a finalist for Channel 4's Bake Off: The Professionals.

She will also lead the menu creation for in-room dining, conferences, weddings, sports and general events, as well as managing sourcing and managing the supply chain at the resort.

Commenting on her promotion, Graham Copeman, general manager at Pennyhill Park, said: “I am so excited to be able to recognise Sarah's leadership skills as well as her culinary expertise through this very deserved promotion.”

He added: “It is terrific to have her now guiding our food proposition, developing the culinary team, and partnering with suppliers who are just as infatuated with local, sustainable and responsible practices as we are. Many congratulations Sarah!”
