Introducing The Ritz Academy at The Ritz London

The Staff Canteen

The Ritz London is to this September launch The Ritz Academy, a three or five year supervised programme offering the chance to work alongside one of the most highly skilled teams in the hospitality sector.

The Ritz Academy will aim to develop its participants into tomorrow’s hospitality leaders, who will have a positive impact within the industry. Managed by the Managing Director, Stephen Boxall and the Head of Human Resources, Joanne Meredith, it will offer a unique opportunity for successful applicants. The programme will provide both a practical and an academic experience from a highly specialised team, and candidates will be mentored every step of the way. It will be supported by Executive Chef John Williams MBE, Food and Beverage Operations Manager, Simon Girling and the Hotel Manager of The Ritz London, Sal Gowili, and aim to prepare the candidates to realise their full potential and secure a positive foundation for the future.

More about the programme: The Ritz Academy programme is divided into three stages.

  1. The first three years, will involve successful applicants spending six months in each of the following departments: the kitchen; The Ritz Restaurant; The Rivoli Bar; housekeeping; front office and reservations.
  2. Once graduated, students will be given the option to choose a permanent job role within The Ritz London or enrol onto stage two, where they will work for six months in both food and beverage and the rooms division, gaining experience at supervisory level.
  3. Stage three opens up the opportunity for candidates to either work in the rooms division or food and beverage at an assistant manager’s level or continue to gain experience in finance, sales and marketing and human resources.

Stephen Boxall said “The Ritz team and I are delighted at the prospect of welcoming vibrant and talented individuals into The Ritz Academy and look forward to helping them develop and prosper within the industry and, where the legend began and has led the way ever since, The Ritz London.” Applicants must submit their CV in addition to responses to three set questions provided by The Ritz London by Friday 25th July 2014. Those shortlisted will be invited to participate in an assessment centre, including individual and group activities and an individual interview. Successful applicants will commence The Ritz Academy in September 2014.
