Daniel Galmiche thanks colleagues for the support received on his wife’s cancer fundraiser.

Chef Daniel Galmiche, who most recently headed up the kitchen at The Gore, in Kensington, has expressed his gratitude to his colleagues in the hospitality industry as his wife's cancer battle fundraiser has surpassed £100,000 - well on the way to the £150,000 target.

Should you wish to contribute, the link to the fundraiser can be found here.

The chef's wife, Claire Galmiche, has stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, and the fundraiser is intended to help them to afford new private treatments.

Daniel, who has spent a year and a half looking after his wife, said: "It's been really humbling to see the response from the trade. The support from my friends in the trade, I can only say thank you, they do not realise how much they are helping with her treatment."

Unfortunately,

Claire's cancer diagnosis was her fourth, as it has gone into remission three times before.

She said she has faith that research, hard work, and determination can lead to healing. In a message posted to her gofundme page on Saturday, she thanked all of the people who donated to her campaign and said: "No matter what, I thank you with all my heart for that."

In the same post, Claire said, and explained why she was forced to go private stating "Sadly, these treatments are not available on the NHS, our wonderful NHS that is crumbling under the strain and has necessary limitations."

She finished the post by writing "Thanks for sitting in the dark with me - and for bringing the incredible light you brought this week. I’ll keep you posted with any new developments."

We at the Staff Canteen wish Claire all the best in this trying time.

Small Contribution. Big Impact.

The Staff Canteen has always been more than a website—it’s a community, built by and for hospitality. We share the wins, the challenges, the graft, and the inspiration that keeps kitchens alive.

We believe in staying open to everyone, but creating this content takes real resources. If you’ve ever found value here—whether it’s a recipe, an interview, or a laugh when you needed it most—consider giving just £3 to keep it going.

A little from you keeps this space free for all. Let’s keep lifting the industry, together.
