South African chef, Jarad Maccarroll has been appointed head chef of Tom Sellers’ Restaurant Ours, who also owns the one Michelin star and 5 AA rosette establishment, Restaurant Story and 3 AA rosette pub, The Lickfold Inn.

Jarad will take over the reins as head chef following Daniel Phippard’s departure last month and will be introducing a more seasonally led menu focusing on more simplistic yet flavourful dishes.

Jarad said: “I’m extremely excited about joining Restaurant Ours - the space is incredible and I have always admired Tom Sellers’ cooking. It will be a privilege to work alongside him. The restaurant is relatively new, and is full of potential, so I’m looking forward to contributing to its future success.”

He continued: “The menu will be seasonal and fresh, and I would like there to be on-going changes to dishes and for it to be product driven, not overly complicated.

“I know I can learn a ot from Tom Sellers and look forward to working with him.”

Born in Durban, South Africa, Jarad McCarroll moved to the UK in 2008 where he worked with John Williams at The Ritz, London, for three years. After the Ritz Jarad worked at the Michelin starred pub, The Harwood Arms followed by a stint at the one starred, Kitchen W8 and later as sous chef at Chiltern Firehouse before joining M Restaurant in Threadneedle Street  as head chef where he also assisted with their Victoria branch.

Tom Sellers discovered his passion for cooking at a young age and has worked with the likes of Michelin starred chefs Thomas Keller, Tom Aikens and Rene Redzepi. Tom opened his first establishment, Restaurant Story in 2013 which won its first star just five months after opening. The following year he opened his second restaurant, The Lickfold Inn which was awarded 3 AA rosettes within a year. Tom opened Restaurant Ours in South Kensington earlier this year.
