John Chantarasak brings AngloThai flavours to Shake Shack

The Staff Canteen

Shake Shack UK has teamed up with John Chantarasak for a limited-edition, one-day-only menu celebrating bold Thai-inspired flavours.

John's culinary journey began with his training at Le Cordon Bleu in London, followed by working at several renowned restaurants, including Nahm in Bangkok and Som Saa in London.

His expertise in Thai cooking and passion for using locally sourced British ingredients have earned him recognition and a Michelin star for AngloThai.

AngloThai is a contemporary restaurant in Marylebone, London, founded by husband and wife team John and Desiree Chantarasak.

It blends bold Thai flavours with seasonal ingredients, reflecting chef John's dual heritage.

The new collaboration brings together the signature creativity of both brands. The AngloThai Burger features an Aberdeen Angus beef patty fried in red curry paste, topped with ox tongue glazed in smoked scallop roe chilli jam, som tam-infused pickles, and a wild garlic and green olive purée, all served in a toasted potato bun brushed with spiced honey butter.

Alongside it, the Laab Spiced Fries come seasoned with AngloThai’s signature laab spice blend, finished with fermented yellow soybean mayo and a wild garlic sweet chilli relish.

John said: “As a long-time admirer of Shake Shack, I'm thrilled to be creating my own burger and fries that reflect the bold, punchy flavours we love to cook with at AngloThai. We’ve taken inspiration from American mustard-fried burgers and layered in Thai techniques, including grilled beef tongue glazed in chilli jam made with smoked scallop roe.”

Jim Frisch, Culinary director at Shake Shack, added: “We’ve long admired what John and Desiree have built with AngloThai. This collaboration brings something truly unique to our UK fans.”

The limited-time burger and fries will be available for one day at Shake Shack Covent Garden on July 11 from 12pm until sold out. Proceeds will go towards London food charity, Grow.
