Santa Maria launches World To Go–Inspired by Street Food concept

The Staff Canteen
Santa Maria has launched a new concept, World To Go – Inspired by Street Food. The concept features a range of ten toppings and sauces with flavours from around the world.  World To Go has been created in response to consumers’ love of street food, which is eaten by an estimated 2.5 billion people every day across the world. After carrying out 150 face-to-face interviews with consumers at four London street food locations findings have revealed that 50% of consumers are buying street food at least once a week. World To Go is a simple way to bring the exciting dynamic of street food into a restaurant or staff canteen. The choice of ten toppings and sauces means that operators can easily add a variety of great tastes and flavours to their menus to keep customers coming back for more. The range can be used to make more profit from basic foods such as simple wraps, burgers and hot dogs or as the inspiration for new, flavoursome dishes. Eric Brännström, Santa Maria chef and street food aficionado says: “The street food trend cannot be compared to anything else, it’s hugely popular. The World To Go sauces have true character and are a perfect way to add great taste and flavour to all sorts of dishes.” World To Go sauces received the thumbs-up in consumer tests, with Piri-Piri proving to be more popular than the combination of tomato ketchup and mustard. The flavours mirror the latest food trends including the rise of South American flavours such as Peruvian, Brazilian and Mexican. The World To Go flavours include Sweet Chili Sauce, Teriyaki Sauce, Bourbon BBQ Sauce, Mexican Hot Sauce, Chipotle Sauce, Ranch Style Topping, Guacamole Style Topping, Diced Jalapeno Topping and Salsa. Santa Maria has developed some inspirational recipes using the range including aubergine and goat cheese taco with Sweet Chili Sauce, venison burger with Chipotle Sauce slaw and triple-pepper-roasted onions, pulled salmon on nacho chips with Teriyaki Sauce and double-glazed suckling pig with Bourbon BBQ Sauce.     About Santa Maria: They are a market-leading supplier of spices and international food concepts throughout Northern Europe. The company has been trading in the spice business since the beginning of the 20th century and is part of the Paulig Group. Their aim to help customers and their end-users to open their minds and inspire them to try different and exciting flavours.
