Speaking to The Staff Canteen, Andrew Pern, chef patron The Star Inn, said: “I think the dinner will be a fantastic event bringing together students old and new at the Scarborough Spa, I had a brilliant time at the now renamed Yorkshire Coast College, travelling to France on several occasions, doing competitions and placements which in some way, has moulded me into what I am today with the help of some great Lecturers and the odd wine tasting trip too!”

Leading up to the event the students will spend a week’s training with the chefs and be encouraged to take part in several exercises which includes a chocolate workshop.

Ed Dobson, Yorkshire Coast College’s programme leader in hospitality, told FEWEEK: “The chefs have been extremely generous and have been digging their hands deep into their own pockets to provide us with equipment and resources to help our students. Their incredible generosity so far is overwhelming.”

Hospitality and catering tutor, Margaret Calver has been with the college for  more than 30 years and has helped train many of the chefs returning on the night who have gone on to achieve Michelin star success.

Maragaret told FEWEEK: “I am looking forward to working again with the chefs during the Michelin Star night and introducing these extremely talented former students to our current students who will be supporting the event”.

The event will take place at Scarborough Spa on the October 13, 2016 and is open to the public. Tickets cost £130 per person and are available from http://chefsspectacular.co.uk/
