After a decade as the UK’s number one networking site for chefs, The Staff Canteen is looking to celebrate and we’ll be making some exciting announcements in the next few months.

The first of these is that Mark Morris will now become Founder and taking over as Managing Director will be Dan Newman.
He joins The Staff Canteen from Freeads Classifieds Ltd, the largest independent classifieds site in the UK.

On his appointment he said: “I am delighted to be joining the largest networking community for professional chefs. Mark, Lucy, Cara and the whole team have built a great brand and suite of products over the last 10 years. Working closely with them, my focus will be to scale The Staff Canteen and develop the brand across all platforms, creating a market leading business which continues to put chefs at the heart of everything it does.”

On the change in roles, Mark explained: “As businesses grow, it’s hugely important to ensure that you have the correct people leading the team and the business. Ten years ago when my wife Lucy and I started The Staff Canteen I did all the interviews and she typed them - we now have an outstanding editorial team headed by Editor Cara Houchen.

“Cara and her team have driven huge success and visibility and the last 10-years have seen us create a huge brand and platform trusted by chefs. We have amassed one of the largest social media followings across our social channels dwarfing many of our competitors.

“Dan’s role will be to lead and grow the business in all areas. In 3 months’ time he will take on full management responsibilities allowing Lucy and I to focus on other parts of the business. Lucy and I want to take this opportunity to wish him every successes and look forward to the next chapter of The Staff Canteen.”
