Ynyshir’s two Michelin-starred chef owner, Gareth Ward, has started taking bookings for his new restaurant Gwen.

Gwen is set to open in Machynlleth Town Centre this May, and represents the second restaurant from Gareth who already holds the prestigious title of running Wales’ most decorated restaurant.

Local media in Wales have reported that bookings have flooded in since opening, with more than 70 people already lined up to eat at Gwen next month.

Gwen, named after Gareth’s mother, will be run by Ynyshir’s incumbent Head Chef Corrin Harrison who’s been itching to take his already outstanding career to the next level.

The new venture will have a wine bar at the front, and run as a casual wine and coffee shop in the day, and a wine bar in the evening.

The menu will be planned and designed by Gareth and Corrin using all the same natural ingredients that are used at Ynyshir but used in different ways.

Both chefs see Gwen as a new offering to have a bit of fun with whilst still producing the quality dishes that can be experienced at Ynyshir.

Guests can expect meat and cheese boards, paninis and soups, croissants and great bread.

The focus for Gwen’s wine list will be based around sustainably sourced, natural, low intervention wines collated by the team at Ynyshir.
