Restaurant Les Amis, led by chef Sébastien Lepinoy, as well as Julien Royer's restaurant, Odette, were both awarded the Michelin Guide's highest distinction - three Michelin stars - at the awards ceremony in Singapore last night.

The restaurants are the first to receive the accolade since the guide was launched in Singapore in 2016.

Also rising up the ranks in the guide this year, Pierre went from one star to two, and Nordic-Asian restaurant,  Frantzén’s sister restaurant, Zén, went straight in at two stars. All in all, the guide now counts five two star restaurants, and 37 one star restaurants - including 7 newcomers in the latter category.

Gwendal Poullennec, the Guide's international director, congratulated the new three star restaurants, noted as a sign that Singapore is becoming a culinary heartland in the region.

"With two of its establishments promoted to a three-star ranking, Singapore is clearly positioned as a leading gastronomic destination," he said.

“Getting a three star is always a singular moment in a chef’s life and I am convinced that’s the same feeling for a city or a country. With this historic first, which completes an already extensive culinary scene, Singapore enters a new dimension to the eyes and palate of food lovers."
