WIN: A pair of tickets for The Universal Cookery and Food Festival 2017

The Staff Canteen

COMPETITION NOW CLOSED

The Universal Cookery and Food Festival (UCFF) is back again, excited as ever to be collaborating with the best in the business.

This summer, it's heading to the beautiful and picturesque Cornish coastal town of Padstow on the 20th September 2017. It's the only trade chef event celebrating food, farming, cooking and learning in a way that only professionals working in the industry will appreciate.

What is the Universal Cookery and Food Festival?

Unlike other trade events, UCFF has been specifically created and designed by chefs exclusively for chefs, moving around the UK every year to ensure that as many of our colleagues, friends and fellow industry contributors have the opportunity to take full advantage of everything that the festival has to offer.

Now in its sixth year, UCFF 2017 will capitalise fully on the rich culinary heritage of the Cornish coast, with a brand new demonstration stage - The Surf & Turf Amphitheatre - offering a rolling programme of meat and fish focused demonstrations by speakers including Simon Hulstone (Chef Proprietor, Elephant Restaurant), Adrian Bartlett (Founder, Crabstock) and Mark Hayward (Farmer, Dingley Dell) and many more.

Which chefs will be on stage?

This year will see another amazing program of events showcasing a range of celebrated local talent, artisan producers and industry exhibitors. There will be talks, debates and live cookery demonstrations from some of the industry’s hottest names, alongside some of the festivals more familiar faces, such as BBC’s food and drink correspondent Nigel Barden as main stage compere. In addition, Alan Paton and his team will again be providing our guests with a range of tasty treats throughout the day.

Other highlights will include workshops offering an insight into cider making and a guide to bee keeping with local chef Colin Wheeler-James, and of course the main UCFF stage returns with its unmissable line up of passionate, knowledgeable and talented chefs including Jack Stein (The Stein Group), Dr Rupy Aujia (The Doctor’s Kitchen), John Walton (Paul Ainsworth No.6), and Emily Scott (St Tudy Inn), among many others.

Guests will also be able to join expert forager Fraser Christian on one of our many “Coastal Foraging Tours” taking place throughout the day along Padstow’s rocky coastline, providing attendees with the unique opportunity to discover the diversity of wild produce available in the area - from edible seaweed and rock samphire to scurvy grass, sorrel and sea spinach.

With great food firmly at the heart of the festival, visitors can expect a treasure trove of taste at the UCFF’s Great Taste Market where they will be able to discover and sample a delicious array of food and drink from both national suppliers and local producers who will be on hand to talk about their products in person.

And of course, sharing, inspiring and networking is thirsty work, so alongside the complimentary food available all day, delegates can enjoy free Sharp’s Beer, live music and Dingley Dell’s Dirty Dozen BBQ Competition in the evening!
