Maintaining the highly-coveted three Michelin Stars is Ultraviolet, with the brilliant chef Paul Pairet at the helm.

There were five new restaurants who were awarded a Michelin Star for the 2019 selection which included Cantonese specialists Ji Pin Court – led by chef Cheung who produces a high level of Cantonese cuisine, with a particular focus on using high-quality ingredients.

Le Comptoir de Pierre Gagnaire has also been awarded a Michelin Star, here guests can enjoy a variety of iconic French specialities, such as the Frogs ‘Poulette’ cocotte and the Foie gras terrine brioche.

The Italian restaurant Il Ristorante - Niko Romito, run by the chef of the same name was also awarded a Michelin star. The chef takes pride in offering authentic Italian flavours that ensure an authentic culinary journey.

Also being awarded a Michelin Star is Amazing Chinese Cuisine and last but no means least is Moose a restaurant that specialises in Huaiyang cuisine.

Bruno de Feraudy, Director of Michelin Group in China said: "The Oriental Pearl, as the city is sometimes called, has both a thousand-year-old cultural heritage and is also one of the largest modern megacities. Shanghai, therefore, has the features of a cosmopolitan city yet still fascinates visitors from all over the world, and the city's gastronomy is the perfect reflection of this.
