British Afghan barbecue dish featuring beef brisket, cooked in a rich aromatic tomato sauce, topped with Mozzarella.

Ingredients

Beef Brisket

  • 300g Beef brisket
  • ½ Onion, sliced and caramelised
  • 1 clove of garlic

Tomato Sauce

  • 500g Fresh tomatoes
  • ¼ tsp Cumin
  • ½ tsp Paprika
  • 3 tbsp Chili oil

Serving

  • 2 Naan Breads
  • 4 Spring Onions, chopped
  • 100g of Mozzarella, grated

Method

Beef Brisket

Chop and caramelise the onions
Combine with the beef brisket and chopped garlic, generously seasoning with salt and pepper
Braise the beef brisket on a low heat for 8 hours with the onions, garlic and seasoning until cooked
Once braised combine the brisket with the homemade tomato sauce and place in a tray, ensuring the beef is coated in the sauce.
Cover with tin foil and cook at 180 degrees for an hour and 45 minutes
Remove the beef brisket mix from the oven adding grated mozzarella before placing the tray back in the oven, cooking until golden

Tomato Sauce

Combine the tomatoes with the spices and chili oil and gently cook out to form a sauce

Serving

Served with naan breads and your favourite sauces
