ORDER UP! Cookbook powered by Square
ORDER UP! is the title of a brand new cookbook and guide bringing together 20 of London’s most celebrated restaurants, cafes and bakeries - all in support of the hospitality industry. Due to be published in mid November, the book was made by Square - the global technology company - in collaboration with the restaurants that use their payments and point of sale tools every day.
To support the hospitality sector, £7.50 from each sale of ORDER UP! will be donated to Hospitality Action (a charity with registration number 1101083) to support hospitality workers in the UK. The remaining 50% goes directly to the restaurant where the book is purchased, aligning with Square’s seller-first mission and helping readers support their favourite local spots. For those books sold via Square here, 100% will be donated to Hospitality Action, ensuring every penny of this initiative supports the people and businesses within it.
With exclusive, never-before-seen recipes adapted for the home cook, ORDER UP! is a love letter to London’s diverse and dynamic food scene. Split into North, East, South and West, each chapter features the most beloved London spots, their background story and a signature recipe, ready to be recreated at home.
Start North and try your hand at Saltine’s Nettle & Ricotta Pie before travelling East for World Famous Gordos’ sought-after pizza dough recipe or Tom’s Pasta’s indulgent lasagne. South of the river, you’ll find Brickwood’s famous Banana Bread with Espresso Butter and Bread Ahead’s Chelsea Bun before heading West for Honey & Co’s Vanilla Cheesecake with Blackberry and Blueberry Topping - to name just a few.
The book features renowned voices within the industry with a foreword by content creator and author, Giuseppe Federici (@sepps) and chapter openers written by Atreka Cameron (founder, All Nations Vegan House), Toby Inskip (@eatingwithtod), Jackson (founder, Black Eats Ldn) and Itamar Srulovich and Sarit Packer (founders, Honey & Co).
With photography by Good Brew Inc, the book takes readers behind the scenes for an authentic look at the kitchens and stories behind the dishes. Each recipe is presented with in-situ photography - showing dishes as they're served in the restaurants - plus candid behind-the-scenes moments that capture the personality and passion of every venue.
“Restaurants are the heart of our communities. They bring people together and define local culture,” said Lizzie Barclay, VP Marketing. “Our mission at Square is to be the best digital partner we can be for businesses. We’re proud to support restaurant owners with this initiative as well as through the tools and technology they need to thrive, from seamless payments, providing the right funding or powerful business insights. Celebrating their resilience and innovation is more important than ever, and we’re honoured to be part of their journey.”
Fundraising and Events Director at Hospitality Action, Astrid Wears-Taylor comments, “We’re excited to be a part of ORDER UP!, which celebrates the creativity, resilience and heart of the hospitality community that we’re here to serve. Every purchased copy of this book includes a donation from Square to Hospitality Action, because behind every plate, every pour and every service, there’s a person. And they deserve to be supported.”
Published by Ebury, Penguin Random House, the book will be available from mid November at participating restaurants across London and orderupsquare.com
