Pastry chef adds new jewels to the Royal Afternoon Tea crown at The Castle Hotel Windsor

Hugely talented Suhas Lokhande has been appointed as new pastry chef at The Castle Hotel in Windsor to further elevate their exquisite Royal Afternoon Tea. Located near Windsor Castle, The Castle Hotel knows how to create an exquisite afternoon tea fit for royalty and the delicate new handmade patisseries and touches added by Suhas have created a truly indulgent experience. 


The Royal Afternoon Tea includes a delicious variety of freshly made sandwiches, featuring a royal coronation chicken wrap, and smoked salmon and dill mousse on a savoury choux bun. The sweet offerings include a selection of freshly baked scones served with homemade jam, and an abundance of delectable treats such as a lemon meringue tartlet with lime and ginger jelly, and an indulgent dark chocolate mousse drop with cherry compote and a chocolate biscuit. Further enhancements include a brand new, cartoon-inspired children’s menu with an interactive piggy bank surprise and a mango mousse duckling, as well as upgraded vegan and gluten free options for adults too. 

Pastry Chef Suhas brings with him fourteen years of professional patisserie experience. Having held positions at an array of prestigious organisations, including most recently, Senior Chef de Partie at Wolseley Hospitality and Pastry Chef at International Baking Company. 

Of his appointment Suhas said, “The Royal Afternoon tea has long been a favourite amongst visitors to the area, locals and hotel guests, and my aim is to add further stories, flair and delicious sweet treats to the menu to keep the tea as one of the best in Windsor. I’m incredibly proud of the improvements to the children’s afternoon tea too which have already been very well received by our younger guests”. 

Sam Goss, General Manager of The Castle Hotel added, “We are delighted to welcome Suhas to the team to help us solidify our position as the top spot for afternoon teas in Windsor in the heart of town. His creative pastries and desserts are already going down a storm and we are seeing a great increase in our afternoon tea guests as a result”. 

The Royal Afternoon Tea will be served on a bespoke crown stand, designed as a tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II as well as commemorating the home of royalty. During afternoon tea week 7th – 13th August, any guests enjoying the Royal Afternoon Tea will also receive a free glass of Prosecco. 

The Royal Afternoon Tea and Royal Vegan Afternoon Tea is priced at £40 per person, and a glass of champagne can be added for £11 per person. The Children’s Afternoon Tea is £25 per person.
