Adam Handling holds charity dinner at The Frog E1 to raise money for war veterans

Adam Handling will be hosting a charity dinner on the 27th of March at his restaurant, The Frog E1, to raise money for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity which provides support serving personnel, veterans and their families.

Adam and fellow chef, Andi Walker, who appeared on MasterChef: The Professionals in 2015, decided to organise the dinner after reading about Albert Simpson, the 92-year-old war hero who was scammed out of £10,000 by con artists selling him fake medication for arthritis. The chefs were so motivated by the story that they became determined to raise funds for veterans like Albert.

Guests to the dinner will be treated to a stunning five-course meal cooked by the chefs, who have all appeared on MasterChef: The Professionals, including Mark Stinchcombe, winner of MasterChef: The Professionals 2015, and Elly Wentworth, runner-up of MasterChef: The Professionals 2016. The chefs have each been assigned a core ingredient with which they must create a delicious dish for the dinner, from a starter incorporating potatoes, to a dessert with rhubarb. Joining them will be Joey O’Hare, Danilo Cortellini, Dean Westcar, Darren Sivewright, Gavin Barnes and Brian McLeish.

The proceeds from the event will be going to SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity (formerly known as the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen & Families Association). SSAFA provide lifelong support to anyone who is currently serving or has ever served in the Royal Navy, British Army or Royal Air Force including reservists, and their families.

Each year, SSAFA’s professional staff and network of more than 7,000 volunteers help some 60,000 people, ranging from World War Two veterans to the families of young servicemen and women wounded or killed in Afghanistan.

All funds raised for SSAFA will go towards supporting anyone who is serving or has ever served in the British Armed Forces, and their families.”
