Great British Menu's Andrew Sheridan is appointed head chef at Stargazy Inn in Port Isaac

Stargazy Inn in Port Isaac, Cornwall reopens on April 11th with a new Head Chef, Andrew Sheridan, known as one of the most innovative and ambitious chefs in the country for his appearances on BBC Two’s Great British Menu in 2018 and again in the 2019 series.

Stargazy is a beautiful Victorian villa with the one of the best views in Cornwall across the bay from Port Isaac to Tintagel castle. Over the winter the restaurant and bar have been fully refurbished and new bathrooms fitted. There are luxurious bedrooms as well as Andrew’s signature style playing with flavours, textures and temperatures to create an intriguing and memorable dining experience.

Andrew says: “I’m incredibly excited to come to Cornwall and create new menus for Stargazy Inn which will celebrate the wonderful local produce including including fish from Port Isaac day boats and lobster from pots in the bay, as well as foraging, fermenting and preserving wild foods.”

Stargazy’s owner David Barnard says: “Port Isaac has a thriving gastronomic scene with Restaurant Nathan Outlaw and our sister properties Port Gaverne Hotel and Pilchards café on the beach. We’re excited to reopen Stargazy Inn after significant refurbishment of the bar and restaurant to create a new destination restaurant and rooms for North Cornwall.”

Andrew will introduce a new Tasting Menu and A la Carte will take diners on a journey with each dish telling a story and through memories, tastes or seasons including Torched Mackerel with cucumber & dill, Salt Baked Beetroot, Cornish Lamb with onions & wild garlic. A new bar menu with his own unique take on Cornish classics like Deep Fried Sprats, Lobster & Crayfish Butty and Stargazy Fish Pie.

Andrew describes his food philosophy: “Food to me is one of the most beautiful things we can do to connect with nature in a variation of ways. Seasonality plays a massive part in the kitchen and we take the best ingredients when they’re in season and prepare them with respect to let its full potential shine.”

Stargazy’s nine beautiful bedrooms make the most of stunning sea views. This beautiful Victorian house has been beautifully refurbished over the last couple of years to offer the utmost luxury.
