The Catey Awards 2019: Success for Royal Lancaster London

On Tuesday 2 July 2019, The Cateys 2019, the Oscars of the hospitality industry, took place at Grosvenor House in London.

Following its £85 million renovations, the prestigious Royal Lancaster London won both the Manager of the Year and the Accessibility Awards.

The evening saw General Manager, Sally Beck, presented with the Manager of the Year Award for her work at Royal Lancaster London, after being described as “one of the most naturally gifted and inspirational leaders of her time.” The Accessibility Award was presented to Patrick Sheehan, Project Communications Manager.

As an Equal Opportunity employer, Royal Lancaster London is committed to constantly developing, maintaining and supporting equal opportunities across all employment matters. The hotel strives to create an equal balance between men and women at work, especially in regard to transfers, salaries, benefits and promotions.

Royal Lancaster London’s inclusion credits its fantastic schemes and trailblazing programs. The hotel’s Apprenticeship Programme gives individuals an opportunity to become fully trained within Finance, HR, Painting & Decorating, Events Restaurants & Bars, Reservations & Front Office, and Kitchens. The schemes give people the best possible training for a lifelong career in the hospitality industry and are available through schools, colleges, word of mouth, and internally to staff already working at the hotel

As well as offering industry leading development schemes, the hotel aims to be ‘the happiest hotel in London’ and create an environment where each colleague can be the very best version of themselves every day. Corporate social responsibility initiatives have seen thousands of single use plastic bottles removed from the business in the past year and colleagues have had the chance to participate in bespoke engagement events that have included escape rooms and their very own exception experience.

In early 2018, the Hyde Park hotel was announced as one of the Sunday Times Top 100 Companies to Work For, retaining its spot in the ranking for the third consecutive year. Royal Lancaster London sits alongside businesses that display the highest standards of team engagement, proving that its colleagues are truly some of the happiest in hospitality.

Royal Lancaster London is located on the boundary of Hyde Park and recently completed its £85 million refurbishment which encompassed the lobby, all 411 guestrooms and suites, the brand new Hyde Lobby Bar and reception lobby for the Nine Kings banqueting space.
