The Coaching Inn Group launches Chef Academies

The Coaching Inn Group Ltd has teamed up with HIT Training – the expert training provider in the hospitality industry – to launch a Chef Academy at its Three Swans Hotel in Market Harborough in Leicestershire.

The Academy, which will support 20 apprentices, has been designed to maximise the company’s Apprenticeship Levy funding while ensuring the tailored development programme progresses the skills of the next generation of chef talent.
With the support of HIT, the Coaching Inn Group Ltd is offering staff the chance to take part in an Intermediate Chef Academy or an Advanced Chef Academy programme. Consisting of a mix of work-based learning, mentor sessions and group training days, the academies will equip staff with the skills needed to work in every section of the kitchen, so they can carve out a successful and long-standing career in hospitality.

Lee Melton, Head of Learning and Development at the Coaching Inn Group Ltd, said: “The industry-wide demand for chefs means that investing in training is essential to recruit and retains these highly skilled team members. That’s why we decided to partner with HIT Training, to create tailored Chef Academies, which will nurture and develop the skills of our people. This is incredibly important to us and we hope initiatives like this demonstrate our investment in team members. We believe investing in high quality training will not only help to future proof the business but also the vibrant and creative sector in which we work.”

Jill Whittaker, Managing Director of HIT Training, commented: “Together with the Coaching Inn Group, we have developed a flexible and unique training programme which has been tailored to the business’s needs. The training will provide apprentices with a core set of skills that will give them the confidence to excel in their careers and move up the ladder into more senior positions. This is what we’re all about at HIT Training – progressing the next generation of talent to drive the hospitality sector forward.”

As part of its commitment to investing in staff, the Coaching Inn Group plans to extend its apprenticeship programme in 2018 to support the progression of Sous Chefs and Head Chefs within the business.
