BLEND FAMILY AND THE BLACK CURRICULUM PARTNER FOR BLACK HISTORY MONTH WITH THE LAUNCH OF AN EXCLUSIVE COCKTAIL

The food hall operator is donating 50% of profits from the exclusive £12 cocktail to The Black Curriculum; the funds will support young people’s travel, workshop materials and facilitator fees for school programmes

Curators of authentic food halls, Blend Family, is championing Black History Month this October with the launch of a new charity cocktail in partnership with The Black Curriculum, a social enterprise working to embed Black history into education and spark meaningful conversations about Black history, arts, and culture year round.

Available across Blend Family food halls throughout October, the Kromanti Mai Tai combines Kromanti Plantain Rum, Triple Sec, lime, pineapple, orgeat and hibiscus for a tropical twist on a classic rum punch and Mai Tai. Made with plantain rum from London-based distillery Kromanti, the cocktail celebrates Caribbean heritage while raising funds for two causes close to Blend Family’s heart.

As part of Blend Family’s ongoing initiative, 50% of profits from every Kromanti Mai Tai Punch sold will go to the Blend Culinary Foundation (BCF), helping to support its mission to tackle food insecurity, with the remaining 50% going directly to The Black Curriculum to support the organisation’s sustainability and important work with schools and education institutions across the UK.

The Kromanti Mai Tai will be available exclusively in October, but the opportunity to drink for a good cause also includes Blend Culinary Foundation’s ‘Cocktail for Good’ initiative, which runs monthly, with a new cocktail available each month. Every proceed from the cocktail for good initiative goes directly to support and alleviate food insecurity.

Matt and Nina, co-founders at Blend Family, said: “Giving back has always been a big part of what we do at Blend, and through our ongoing cocktail initiative we’re able to support causes that really matter to us. Tackling food insecurity through the Blend Culinary Foundation has always been at the core of this initiative, and we’re really proud to be extending that support to The Black Curriculum, an organisation doing such important work. Black history shouldn’t just be something we talk about in October; it deserves to be recognised, celebrated and taught all year round. We love that we can bring people together over a cocktail while supporting causes that really matter.”

Blend Family food halls bring together independent Food Partners, serving food inspired by cultures and cuisines from across the world. From the food on the menu to the communities that gather around the table, Blend Family’s venues celebrate the role of food in bringing people together and sharing stories, traditions, and heritage.

For Blend Family, the partnership marks the start of an ongoing commitment to supporting Black history education and celebrating the cultures and communities that make its food halls what they are, long after Black History Month ends.
