Chefs, what do you bring to the table? The Major Culinary Challenge Competition needs you!

The Major Culinary Challenge Competition is back once again, and it needs you! Held in conjunction with the Craft Guild of Chefs, the Major Culinary Challenge Competition is one of the most established and long-running chef competitions in the UK; offering competitors not only a fantastic competing experience, but some incredible gastronomic prizes for the Winners too. It’s now open for entries!

With a truly fantastic high standard time and time again, the Competition offers entrants the opportunity to really feel the heat of the kitchen. A chance to gain confidence in their ability, develop skills and showcase their culinary creativity whilst experiencing the thrill of the live competition arena.

Showcasing the very best talent the UK has to offer, the 2023 Competition has evolved – it’s now open to Junior and Senior competitors (Juniors being those aged 22 years in March 2023; and Seniors those aged over 22 years). Those looking to take part must develop a two-course menu, comprising a vegan starter and a main course of their choosing.

The Competition is the ideal opportunity for competitors to impress the judging panel with their culinary skills, use of flavour and understanding of the Major products. Paper entries will initially be required (to be submitted by 25th November 2022), with judges choosing eight Seniors and eight Juniors to compete in the Semi Finals (judging will take place in December, with Semi Finalists notified by 16th December 2022). Semi Finalists will compete at either Hartlepool College (Northern venue) or Eastleigh College (Southern venue), where a Winner and Runner Up will be decided from each location. The Senior and Junior Finalists will then go on to battle it out to be crowned Winners, in the Final at HRC in March 2023!

Alongside the recognition of winning, each Winner will receive a truly fantastic set of prizes – the chance to enjoy an incredible Michelin-starred meal in their local area for themselves and one guest (food only); and a two-day Culinary Flavour Discovery at Major’s UK Headquarters in Milton Keynes (overnight accommodation included).

The ever-popular Street Food and Cake Bake classes are back too! With £50 Amazon vouchers for the Winners.

So, to all the passionate chefs out there, come on – show us what you bring to the table! Full details of the Major Culinary Challenge Competition can be found in the Competition brochure, which is available to download with the Entry Form, craftguildofchefs.org/sites/default/files/attachment/nodeblock/Major-Culinary-Challenge-Brochure%2BEntry-Form.pdf.

Thanks in advance to the fantastic colleges, hard-working students and dedicated lecturers who welcome this exhilarating experience.
