Hospitality 2011 Cooks Up a Culinary Treat for Visitors

Fresh RM, organisers of Hospitality at the NEC Birmingham from 24th–26th January, has just announced that the competition for top international chefs will be streamed live from Lyon and shown on big screens above the show’s La Parade des Chefs restaurant.
The screening, sponsored by Compass Group and CESA, will give visitors the chance to watch some of the best cooks in the business and to cheer on Britain’s representative, Simon Hulstone, who has been strongly supported by the UK hospitality industry for this year’s competition.
Toby Wand, Group Event Director at Fresh RM, said: “By showing Bocuse d’Or Hospitality 2011 is aiming to enhance the evident industry support and add value to the visitor experience. We know that people in the culinary world will really appreciate this late addition to the show.
“There is a huge amount of interest in the Bocuse d’Or because it is such a prestigious event, particularly this year with Simon Hulstone competing. We wanted to ensure that visitors had the chance to view it live and show their support. We hope this screening will provide the icing on the cake, particularly for chefs, of what promises to be an exciting and inspirational three days. We wish Simon all the very best in his efforts and we look forward to cheering him on with the rest of the industry from the NEC!”
Action and live interviews from Bocuse d’Or will be screened at the show’s La Parade des Chefs on Wednesday 26th January, a 100-seat fine dining restaurant and part of Salon Culinaire, which will also stage a series of events for chefs including nearly 60 competitions and 12 new classes.
Hulstone, chef-proprietor of the Michelin-starred Elephant bar and restaurant in Torquay, Devon, is one of 24 chefs to have qualified for the finals of Bocuse d’Or. Named in honour of internationally renowned French chef, Paul Bocuse, it is staged every two years and gives young chefs from a number of countries an opportunity to show their culinary skills.
Hulstone said: “I am really looking forward to participating in Bocuse d’Or because it is the biggest culinary competition for individual competitors. I am delighted that visitors to Hospitality 2011 will have the opportunity to watch the action and cheer me and my commis chef on during this prestigious competition. It is our aim to fly the flag for Britain’s culinary reputation by getting the highest placing we can against some of the best international chefs in the business.”
Hospitality 2011 is the only UK event of 2011 calendar appealing to an audience of senior hospitality and foodservice decision-makers and will attract a 12,000-strong audience.
The show covers Food & Drink, Equipment, Interiors, Exteriors & Tableware plus Technology, It will stage Business Seminars featuring inspirational speakers including Alex Polizzi, Channel Five’s Hotel Inspector, and Business Mentoring Sessions featuring leading industry names.
