Chris worked at Gidleigh for three years, honing his skills and learning from Michael. Then to further his knowledge of different cooking styles, Chris worked at The Fat Duck in Bray and at Danesfield House with Adam Simmonds.
He then returned to The Abode in Chester in the role of executive chef. Here Chris was given responsibilities such as budgets and staff management.
He became head chef at the Olive Tree restaurant in February 2013 and within his first year, the restaurant was awarded three AA Rosettes – an accolade which they still hold in the AA Restaurant Guide 2019.
Tree restaurant is situated in the basement of the Queensberry Hotel, a luxury townhouse four star hotel just a short walk from Bath city centre. Proprietors Laurence and Helen Beere bought the hotel and restaurant in 2003 and the Olive Tree is one of Bath's longest established independent restaurants.
The Olive Tree was awarded its first Michelin star in the Michelin Guide 2019. Chef Chris Cleghorn said: “We’ve had many years where we thought we might have had a look at it but this year, it was not expected!
"I think having the star will change the team morale and help to bring staff in, helping them to understand our values, our aspirations and attention to detail.”

The restaurant's wine list has also been recognised for its diverse offering. They have been awarded The Good Food Guide’s UK Best Wine List award and the AA Notable Wine List award for 2018-2019.
Food Style
