Jake started his culinary journey in 2012 when he began studying Culinary Arts at Guildford College. Once he graduated from the course, he worked at Restaurant Tristan as a demi chef de partie.

Harwood Arms

Graham (who is also chef-patron of The Ledbury) and Mike Robinson with head chef Jake Leach leading the brigade in the kitchen.

Jake and the team at the Harwood Arms pride themselves on using the best of British produce with a focus on game and wild food.

As well as having the honour of being the only Michelin-starred pub in London, the Harwood Arms was also crowned London’s best gastropub at the Top 50 Gastropubs 2017 awards. The Harwood’s origins as a pub date as far back as 1840.

The Harwood Arms offers a set-priced menu for lunch and dinner, priced at £50 for two-course and £65 for three courses. However, along with this, a discretionary 12.5% gratuity is added to the bill.

Expect to find an array of home-grown vegetables throughout the menu such as heritage tomatoes, beans and courgettes cultivated from their rooftop vegetable garden.

Some notable items on the menu include charred mackerel with smoked eel, Jersey royals and parsley sauce; roast Yorkshire Grouse with creamed root vegetables and blaeberries; and custard flan with white peach and lemon thyme.

Small Contribution. Big Impact.

The Staff Canteen has always been more than a website—it’s a community, built by and for hospitality. We share the wins, the challenges, the graft, and the inspiration that keeps kitchens alive.

We believe in staying open to everyone, but creating this content takes real resources. If you’ve ever found value here—whether it’s a recipe, an interview, or a laugh when you needed it most—consider giving just £3 to keep it going.

A little from you keeps this space free for all. Let’s keep lifting the industry, together.
