Chef Aaron Mulliss, a.k.a Daz, has left The Hand and Flowers after almost twelve years of service.

Aaron joined The Hand and Flowers in 2007. At the time Tom Kerridge's gastropub had a single Michelin Star - it received its second in 2012 under his watch. He was named executive head chef of the Tom Kerridge empire in 2017.

Aaron's last shift was last night; the chef posted his goodbyes on Instagram - including a picture of a commemorative plaque on the pub wall - thanking Tom and his wife Beth Cullen-Kerridge, as well as his own wife Katie.

"I cannot thank every young boy and girl enough who came through that kitchen door to help make it what it is today, I cannot name you all but you know who you are!"

"I am extremely proud of what we achieved and consider myself very lucky to have been apart (sic) of it all."

He also congratulated senior sous-chef Jamie May, who will take over as head chef.

"I wish you all the very best my friend you will shine and take The Hand to new heights I’m sure."

The post received an outpouring of messages from friends and family, calling it the "end of an era" and wishing him good luck.

The chef hasn't announced any concrete plans for the future.

Here's a 10-question video we filmed shortly before The Hand and Flowers received its second Michelin star in 2012.
