Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall, the Michelin-starred fine-dining restaurant in North Yorkshire’s luxury five-star hotel, has announced the promotion of Elliot Emery to head chef.
The appointment comes as the restaurant prepares to celebrate its sixth anniversary this July.
Elliot joined the kitchen as Senior Sous Chef in March 2024 and has since become a key figure in shaping the restaurant’s identity. Working closely with Chef Patron Shaun Rankin, he now leads the brigade in refining the acclaimed Taste of Home tasting menu, which showcases seasonal, sustainable, and entirely British produce.
Originally from the Midlands, Elliot’s culinary journey began at The Stagg Inn in Herefordshire under chef Steve Reynolds. His career then took him to London, where he held roles at Social Eating House and Michelin-starred Hide Above, before spending four years at two-star Restaurant Sat Bains in Nottingham.
Elliot said: “It’s a really exciting time for the team, and for me personally. We’re evolving the menu with ambitious goals for the restaurant, and I feel incredibly proud to be leading such a talented and supportive brigade in one of the most prestigious kitchens in the country.”
Chef Patron Shaun Rankin added: “Elliot is an outstanding chef with a brilliant attitude and a deep understanding of flavour and technique. I have every confidence that he’ll help take the restaurant to new heights.”
Grantley Hall also recently announced a new countryside pub located nearby.
