The Staff Canteen's Member of the Year 2019

The Staff Canteen

Congratulations to Rheberson Britto, our 2019 Member of the year! Here at The Staff Canteen, we feature a different member every month who we think deserves to be celebrated - Now it's time to celebrate our 2019 member of the year.

Since Rheberson was our Member of the Month in February, he has had quite the year - a change of country, company and position. He is now working in London as a sous chef at the Sea Containers Cucumber Restaurant. As thanks for being a regular contributor to The Staff Canteen website via the Chef+ app, Rheberson will have his name engraved on our prestigious Member of The Year plaque, receive a rare blue TSC mug and an exclusive goodie bags from our sponsors Chef Works UK and Essential Cuisine.

So, what do you have to do to be in with a chance of winning Member of the Month?

Simply upload a minimum of 4 images a month and you'll be in with a chance.

But the more you post, the better your chances! We love to see our member's work, so why not post skills videos, plating videos and recipes too.

Here are the Chefs who were Members of the Month in 2019

1.  January - Ivan Antonov

Ivan spent his January developing a menu for a new restaurant and his favourite dish to cook is turbot with black truffle.

2. February - Rheberson Britto

Currently spending his second year working in Italy, Rheberson's style of cooking is focused on simple plated dishes, perfectly cooked and complex to the palate.

3. March - Przemyslaw Langiewicz

Przemyslaw started his cooking adventure aged 13 where he was a kitchen porter and then a chef de partie. He would never say no to a slice of Margherita pizza!

4. April - Morgan Williams

Currently working at Esabella's in Solihull, Morgan's favourite dish to cook is sticky Asian chicken with stir fry veg and rice.

5. May - Sem Grotenhuis

Sem is currently the head chef at the Brasserie Floor in Epe. He would like to open his own restaurant in the future, but for the time being, he's very happy doing what he's doing.

6. June - James Oakley

James is currently working in Hong Kong and his cooking style is modern international. His guilty pleasure food is KFC - he loves fried chicken!

7. July - Mark Fice

Mark is currently the head chef at the Ship Inn. Like most good chefs, he dreams of having his own restaurant in the future but it would be on a more self-sustainable basis as he loves to forage for many ingredients.

8. August - Simon Higgins

Simon is the head chef of The Greedy Goose restaurant in Malahide. He likes to use fresh, local ingredients in his cooking - his menu focuses on Irish produce done in a tapas-style.

9. September - Steve Thompson

Steve's favourite dish to cook is a simple Sunday roast - it can't be beaten when done right. His guilty pleasure is marmite!

10. October - Gareth Wharton

Gareth is a sous chef of the officers' mess at HM defence medical services serving both military and private functions. His guilty pleasure food is proper Heinz baked beans on thick buttery toast with red onion, chorizo, ham and cheese.

11. November - Tom Hudson

Tom is the executive chef at Restaurant Hello Stranger and his cooking style is a mix of all the places he has worked or visited. He wants to work on improving the perception of British cuisine in Finland.

12. December - Mark Coulton

Mark is the head chef at the Wagon and Horses and has recently fallen in love with cooking seafood of all kinds. His guilty pleasure food is a smoked bacon sandwich with a runny fried egg.
